PROGRAM COORDINATOR

The Town of Cornwall is looking for an energetic and decision making individual interested in a schedule that includes working evenings and weekends as Program Coordinator. This full-time position would report to the ‘Parks and Recreation Manager’ and is responsible for development and implementation of programming for the Department and to provide support to other areas of the Department. A typical schedule would include week-day-evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, implement and evaluate a broad a range of programs offered by the department for all ages and abilities;
  • Research program trends and assist with the development and implementation of new programs;
  • Enforce safety and operating procedures;
  • Responsible for assisting with hiring, training, supervision and evaluation of program staff and volunteers;
  • Assist in budget preparation and administration;
  • Monitor and requisition supplies, materials, and equipment;
  • Assist in drafting program policies and procedures;
  • Primarily works during evenings, weekends, and holidays;
  • Carry a cell phone and be on call;
  • Perform other such duties, responsibilities and functions as may be assigned;

Qualification:

  • Ability to implement recreation programs;
  • Ability to plan, organize, supervise, evaluate and motivate staff;
  • Ability to communicate effectively, demonstrating effective verbal, written and listening skills;
  • Ability to compile and maintain accurate records and prepare reports;
  • Knowledge of accident prevention and reporting procedures;
  • Ability to implement department policies and procedures;
  • Must have a valid P.E.I. Driver’s License, have access to a vehicle and be able to obtain a Class “4” Driver’s License;
  • University Degree/College Diploma in Recreation/Physical Education or a related field;
  • Two (2) years’ experience in the delivery of recreational activities and programs;
  • Two (2) years’ experience in staff supervision;
  • Additional training, seminars related to program and event planning and delivery is an asset;
  • Possession of, or be able to obtain, certification in CPR and First-Aid training;
  • Experience in a computerized office with proficiency in Excel, Word, WordPerfect and Publisher.

The Town of Cornwall offers a competitive Salary and Benefits package for this position, and the pay range is $40,220-$45,191.
