As a partner and consultant at HR Atlantic, Patsy has extensive experience conducting organizational reviews, Workplace Assessments and harassment investigations within public and private sector organizations and regulatory environments.
Clients throughout Atlantic Canada are drawn to Patsy’s combination of strong interpersonal, analytical and problem solving skills. She brings these skills to her diverse practice of multi-party facilitation, conflict resolution, mediation, Workplace Assessments and Respectful Workplace Investigations.
Patsy has thirty years of practical work experience and insight gained through her professional roles and responsibilities as a nurse, lawyer and senior executive within the public sector. Her legal training equips her with a clear understanding of witness interviewing and information gathering techniques, with sensitivity to privacy and confidentiality issues. Patsy’s interest-based approach enables her to effectively assess complex work related matters using healthy and respectful mechanisms to gain an understanding of various perspectives.
Patsy has completed a two-year Practitioners Certificate in Alternative Dispute Resolution at the University of Prince Edward Island and a Certificate in Workplace Investigations by the Human Resource Professional Association. She is also an associate member of Collaborative Practice PEI and is trained in collaborative practice.
Patsy is a nurse-lawyer. She practiced adult and paediatric nursing for eleven years before entering law school in 1990. Upon graduation she returned to the Health and Social Services System in Prince Edward Island to serve in various positions, which included Assistant Director of Nursing of Acute Care and Mental Health Services, senior policy analyst, and legal counsel. Patsy has also acted as the interim Executive Director of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Charlottetown, PEI and the Official Trustee for the Eastern School District, the province’s largest English School Board.
Patsy broadened her public sector experience as a Departmental Solicitor within the Province of Prince Edward Island prior to her appointment as Assistant Deputy Attorney General and Deputy Attorney General with the Office of the Attorney General in PEI.
Patsy graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School, York University in 1993. She received her Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from The University of New Brunswick in 1989, and began her career as a Registered Nurse from the PEI School of Nursing in 1979.
