Emily is a partner in HR Atlantic leading our workplace investigation practice and providing diverse labour relations support to clients in the public, private and non-profit sectors.
Emily has been a certified workplace investigator since 2016. She has extensive experience as a neutral third party conducting complex workplace investigations with a trauma informed approach. Emily has led investigations dealing with allegations of harassment, sexual harassment and violence, discrimination, and code of conduct violations. Emily inspires confidence and trust with her calm manner and acute listening skills. Emily applies this same skill set to workplace assessments which enable her to provide a wider scope of analysis and recommendations resulting in improved workplace environments and relationships.
Emily gets satisfaction from assisting clients with all things people related. She practices labour, employment and administrative law, providing our clients with practical support and guidance on performance management, accommodations, conflict, discipline, and contract interpretation. She represents clients in litigation including at grievance arbitration and at other administrative hearings.
Emily studied law at the University of New Brunswick after working in the Senate of Canada and for the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador. She has a Master of Arts in Political Science from Carleton University and Bachelor of Arts from the University of Prince Edward Island with a Certificate in Public Administration.
Emily was called to the bar in Prince Edward Island in 2014. More recently she was called to the bar in Nova Scotia in 2022.
She lives in Pownal, Prince Edward Island, with her husband, daughters, and dog Leo.
