Katherine is a passionate problem-solver who helps clients improve their workplace cultures by balancing both people and operational considerations.
Katherine brings more than 25 years of experience as a Human Resources professional with extensive experience in the public, private and post-secondary sectors. Her experience is very wide-ranging and includes strategically leading and developing strong HR teams, building and maintaining solid and resilient employee and labour relations, organizational reviews and redesign, leadership development and training, and conflict resolution. Katherine is also an experienced, certified Workplace Investigator.
Well known for being an objective and approachable consultant and coach, Katherine excels in understanding complex issues and assists others to develop, foster and improve their workplace relationships. She believes strongly in the importance of giving back to the HR profession by supporting many newly graduated Human Resources professionals over the years, including most recently some newcomers to Canada. Katherine has also taught the Human Resources course in the Commerce Department at Mount Allison University.
Katherine is also passionate about the benefits of Interest-Based Negotiations (IBN) for both employers and unions and has led negotiation teams to successful outcomes on numerous occasions. She feels strongly that applying the principles of IBN to many workplace situations where there is conflict can lead to a deeper understanding of the source of the conflict and can lead to more productive and trusting relationships going forward.
Katherine has both a Bachelors and a Masters Degree in Political Science, and has been a Chartered Professional in Human Resources since 2007.
Katherine is based out of Sackville, New Brunswick, the unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People, and she serves clients throughout Atlantic Canada, and across the country.
Katherine is also a talented fiber artist, and in her leisure time she enjoys reading murder mysteries and cheering on the Toronto Blue Jays.
